We empower Afghan girls through quality online education
We prioritise communities where education and empowerment of women has been disrupted. It is vital that women and girls don’t lose hope of realising their legitimate and basic dreams for their personal development and the future of their country.
We created our secondary school program to enable Afghan girls to complete of their unfinished high school curricula, and with international relevance for future progress.
Our special education programs for Afghan girls
- use the Moodle Learning Management System to create engaging virtual classrooms with social interaction
- are delivered by Afghan women scholars in native languages, Pashto and Dari
- align the Afghan national curriculum to Australian standards in content and learning outcomes, as a basis for achieving international recognition.
Our approach is to:
Teach content in local and international languages
Classes at the middle and high school levels are conducted in Pashto and Dari languages, while improving the students’ capacity in international languages, especially Arabic and English.
Teaching at the bachelor’s level is done in the national languages of Afghanistan, while students complete some subjects in English or a mixed language. The language of instruction in technical-vocational education courses and master’s courses is English.
Engage qualified educators
Most of the professors and instructors who teach at different levels of this program have been or will be selected from among qualified Afghan graduates, especially females educated inside and outside Afghanistan. Currently all our teachers are volunteers, mostly in Afghanistan, where they have lost employment due to closure of schools.
Ensure a fair student selection process
Students who register through the online process will be contacted after the evaluation of their previous academic documents and certificates. The student selection process is transparent to ensure fairness. If the interview is passed successfully, an application account will be created for each of them and they will be given access to the system.
Build a community of learning
Students come to their classes daily and a chat group is created between students and teachers within the system. Students can share their experiences, build rapport and support one another’s learning through the chat rooms. They can also upload their homework into the system and make it available to teachers for feedback.
