Ghulam Shah Adel

Adel has dedicated 15 years to serving as Associate Professor and Dean of the Law and Political Science faculty at Herat University in Afghanistan. He obtained his LL.B degree from Herat University in 2005, followed by an LL.M in Private Law from Shaheed University in Iran in 2008. He entered the doctoral philosophy in law at the University of Delhi in India in 2018.

Adel’s professional expertise spans various areas, including Curriculum and Textbooks Development in Law, Islamic Law, Gender Equality, Children’s Rights, Pluralism, Conflict Resolution, Peacebuilding, Andragogy, Legal Clinics, and Research. He has collaborated with both national and international institutions in Afghanistan, resulting in the publication of several textbooks and articles.

As an academic director, he has played a pivotal role in the advancement of legal education in Afghanistan. Notably, he established pioneering initiatives within the country’s higher education system, such as legal clinics across various fields, a peace centre, a rule of law and human rights centre, and centres for international languages at Herat University.

Adel’s exceptional managerial skills and commitment to innovation and creativity have been evident in his collaborations with Afghan universities and various international and domestic institutions. Building on the previous experience, he and his colleagues established the Mother International Institute of Empowerment.
