🌐 Volunteer Online Secondary Education Teacher
1. Role Overview
We are seeking passionate volunteer educators to join our upcoming semester of online secondary-level classes. Subjects include:- Dari Literature
- Career and Technical Studies
- Pashto Literature
- Holy Quran Interpretation (Tafsir)
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Biology
- Craft and Technology
Educators will deliver lessons aligned with Afghanistan’s National Education Curriculum, using a student-centred approach and digital tools to foster critical thinking and social engagement.
2. Responsibilities
- Deliver online classes via Moodle LMS, tailored for mobile access
- Create a supportive and interactive learning environment using Zoom and breakout rooms
- Apply modern pedagogical strategies and Bloom’s Taxonomy to enhance learning outcomes
- Collaborate with MIIED’s academic team to refine course delivery and student engagement
- Participate in ongoing training and feedback cycles to improve teaching quality
3. Requirements
- Proficient in English
- Fluent in Dari and/or Pashto
- Master’s degree in Education or equivalent online teaching experience (minimum 2 years)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Moodle or similar LMS platforms
- Understanding of Bloom’s Taxonomy and student-centred teaching methods
- Willingness to work in a volunteer capacity for a minimum of 14 weeks
- Comfortable with evolving educational technologies and virtual collaboration
Note: Preference will be given to female educators, in alignment with MIIED’s mission to empower Afghan girls and women through culturally sensitive education.
4. Program Description
MIIED is a community-driven initiative offering virtual education to Afghan girls whose schooling has been disrupted by conflict, displacement, or political restrictions. Our mobile-accessible classes are designed to uphold cultural norms while providing high-quality, synchronous learning experiences. Each class hosts up to 30 students, runs for 60–70 minutes, and is scheduled 2–3 times weekly, over a 12–14-week term. The LMS includes lesson plans, assessments, student records, and interactive tools to support both teaching and learning.Social interaction is a core component of our pedagogy. Breakout rooms remain open between sessions to encourage peer connection and emotional support.
5. Pilot Phase & Training
This semester marks the pilot phase of our expanded curriculum. Teachers will receive full training on Moodle LMS, with compensation for training hours. After the pilot, educators may be invited to mentor incoming teachers and help scale the program.
6. Remuneration
This is a volunteer role for the first 14 weeks. If the pilot phase is successful, paid contracts may be offered based on local teaching rates. Payments will be made for scheduled teaching hours and approved additional tasks.
